Aethro: Reforged Client v3.0 Has Arrived!

Well, we may have poked the client a little too much.

Client v3.0 is officially here, bringing some pretty massive changes to Aethro: Reforged. New screens, new races, new systems being built, new fishing shenanigans, and probably at least one thing we stared at for six hours wondering why it wouldn’t work.

You know. Normal development stuff.

We’ve made some major changes under the hood and given parts of the client a much-needed makeover.

You’ll now find:

• A brand-new login screen
• A redesigned character creation screen
• New client modifications supporting our growing pile of custom nonsense

And we’re definitely not done.

More client-side changes are already being worked on as we continue seeing just how far we can bully a 2009 game client before it starts fighting back.

Yep. We did it.

Worgen and Goblins are now playable races in Aethro: Reforged!

Naturally, simply adding the races wasn’t enough.

That would have been far too reasonable.

So both Worgen and Goblins have access to EVERY CLASS.

Goblin Druid? Sure.

Worgen Paladin? Go for it.

Goblin Death Knight? Why not?

Make something weird. We encourage poor decisions around here.

Combined with our Any Race, Any Class and Allegiance systems, your character’s race no longer decides who you have to fight for or what you get to become.

Pun absolutely intended.

Player Housing development has officially begun, and the early foundations of the system are already on the server.

There’s still plenty of work happening before we unleash everyone with imaginary property deeds and questionable interior-design decisions, but this one has officially moved from “we’re going to build that” to “oh crap, we’re actually building it.”

More information will be coming as development continues.

Please refrain from arguing with your spouse over where the virtual couch goes until then.

Apparently regular fishing wasn’t enough.

We’ve added Aethro’s Lucky Angler, a permanent bind-on-pickup fishing pole for one Reforged character.

Along with its native fishing bonus to help with difficult catches, while equipped it gives you:

• 25% chance to make an additional fishing skill-up attempt
• 10% chance at one additional open-water fishing loot roll

The extra loot roll only applies to open-water fishing. It does not work with fishing pools or quest-only catches, and it does not guarantee rare loot.

So no, equipping it does not mean the universe suddenly owes you whatever you’ve been fishing for during the last three hours.

This part is actually important.

Make sure your Aethro: Reforged client is fully updated before playing.

Client v3.0 contains the files needed for Worgen and Goblins. If you’re running an older client, the new races will not display correctly and you may crash when encountering them.

So please run the launcher and let it update.

Otherwise you’re going to see something horrifying, crash, blame us, and then we’re going to ask:

“Did you update your client?”

And you’re going to say:

“…no.”
