Azeroth has always been a world of possibilities, but who says those possibilities need to stop at your class, your armor, or the way you've always played?
At Aethro: Reforged, we've never been particularly interested in following every rule Blizzard left behind. We're here to build something different, and our latest update takes that philosophy even further!
From breaking traditional armor restrictions to rethinking professions, improving your adventures, and making essential tools available to everyone, there's plenty happening across Reforged!
๐ก๏ธ Beyond the Boundaries: Your Class, Your Armor, Your Adventure!Ever wondered why your Mage couldn't wear plate? Or why your Priest couldn't throw on some leather?
Well, we're doing something about that!
Introducing Universal Armor Mastery, one of our biggest changes to character customization yet!
Starting at level 10, adventurers can visit Magister Vaelith Dawnspire and undertake a brand-new quest, The Armor Master's Trial.
You'll be challenged to demonstrate your ability to wear cloth, leather, mail, and plate armor. Complete the trial, and your character permanently unlocks the ability to equip ordinary armor of all four types!
Want a Mage in plate? Go for it.
A Priest wearing leather? Absolutely.
A mixed set of armor that fits your character's unique style? That's the idea!
โ๏ธ Freedom Doesn't Mean Forgetting Balance! We're not simply throwing every restriction out the window.
Different armor types offer their own advantages, encouraging players to experiment with combinations that complement their playstyle.
-
๐ง Full Cloth: 4% increased spell and healing output, plus 6% improved normal mana regeneration.
-
๐พ Full Leather: 3% increased physical damage and 2 additional percentage points of dodge.
-
โ๏ธ Full Mail: 1% increased physical damage and 1% increased spell and healing output.
-
๐ก๏ธ Plate: Naturally higher physical protection, with potential trade-offs depending on your class.
Wearing armor heavier than your class traditionally supports may come with offensive trade-offs. Choosing extra protection could mean sacrificing some damage or healing potential.
Class-exclusive equipment and tier sets remain exclusive. Weapons, shields, relics, and other item requirements aren't changing either.
Universal Armor Mastery is designed for players, so PlayerBots will continue using their traditional armor restrictions.

๐จ Professions Are Getting a Balance Update! With Universal Armor Mastery opening up entirely new possibilities for equipment, we're also taking another look at how professions fit into Reforged.
As many of you know, we've previously allowed characters to learn every profession. That freedom was great for convenience, and we know plenty of you have put serious time into developing your crafting skills.
But with armor restrictions changing, professions are becoming more important than ever.
When nearly every character can wear nearly every type of armor AND personally craft just about everything, some of the decisions that make professions interesting start to disappear.
We want crafting to remain meaningful, encourage a little more cooperation between adventurers, and give different characters opportunities to shine.
๐ ๏ธ Introducing Three Primary Professions!Characters can now learn up to three primary professions.
That's still one more than the traditional two-profession limit in Wrath of the Lich King!
You'll have room to experiment with different combinations while keeping some value in the choices you make.
Cooking, Fishing, First Aid, and profession specializations don't consume those three slots.
โค๏ธ What About Everything You've Already Learned? This is the important part, especially for our longtime adventurers.
YOU ARE NOT LOSING YOUR EXISTING PROFESSIONS!
If you've already learned four, six, or even every available primary profession, congratulations! You've earned them, and we're not taking them away.
-
Every profession you've already learned stays yours.
-
Your existing skill levels and recipes are preserved.
-
You can continue leveling and crafting with those professions.
-
Nobody will be forced to unlearn professions to comply with the new limit.
The new limit simply applies to learning additional primary professions. Characters who already exceed three can keep using everything they know, but won't be able to learn another primary profession unless they first fall below the cap.
We recognize that this is a change from the freedom we've offered previously, and we aren't making it lightly.
The goal isn't to punish anyone for enjoying our profession system. It's to make sure that, as we introduce more freedom in how you equip and develop your characters, crafting and character progression still have a meaningful place in the world.
And as with other Reforged balance changes, we'll continue evaluating how everything works together.

Helpful guides and the latest Play Aethro announcements
Whether you're a fresh adventurer or a veteran who's been with us for ages, the Aethro Box is intended to help you discover everything our world has to offer.
Because let's face it, we've added a LOT to this game!
๐ฎ Warlocks, Your Bags Can Finally Breathe!Warlocks, we haven't forgotten about you!
We know how much of a pain Soul Shards can be, especially when they're eating up half your inventory.
Soul Shards now stack up to 20 per inventory slot!
That's more room for loot, equipment, and whatever other questionable objects you've collected during your adventures.
Your bags can thank us later.
๐ Building a Better Reforged!Reforged has never been about simply recreating Wrath of the Lich King.
We've spent a tremendous amount of time expanding what players can experience, from custom races and Allegiances to Warband Camps, Territories, Mythic+, and so much more.
But building something different also means occasionally revisiting earlier decisions as new systems come together.
We want to give you more freedom without making every character identical or removing the reasons to explore different approaches to the game.
Sometimes that means expanding possibilities, like allowing a Mage to wear plate armor.
Other times it means finding a better balance between convenience, progression, and the value of the choices you make.
What matters is that we're continuing to build a world where your adventures feel like your own.
So get out there, experiment with your gear, discover new possibilities, and show Azeroth what happens when you go Beyond the Boundaries!
