Choose Your Banner: Faction Allegiance Comes to Aethro: Reforged

The old rules are changing. Your race no longer decides your loyalty.

A major faction update is coming to Aethro: Reforged, giving players more control over where their character stands in the Alliance–Horde conflict while making that choice matter throughout Azeroth.

For the first time, your race and faction allegiance are no longer permanently tied together.

An Orc can fight for the Alliance.

A Human can swear loyalty to the Horde.

Your character keeps their race. Your character keeps their class.

You choose the banner.

Your Journey Starts With a Choice

When you create a new character, one of your first stops will be Astrael.

Astrael will help you choose your faction allegiance and send you toward the faction area you want to begin your journey with.

Want your Orc to fight for the Alliance?

Go for it.

Want your Human to stand with the Horde?

That's your choice too.

Once your allegiance is set, you'll be able to head into the world under the banner you've chosen.

Astrael will also be available in Sanctuary, Stormwind, and Orgrimmar for players who need to manage their allegiance later.

Azeroth Knows Which Side You're On

Your allegiance determines more than just the faction shown on your character.

It affects:

• Which faction portal network you can use.

• Which cities consider you welcome.

• Which guards recognize you as an enemy.

• Which faction questlines you can follow.

• How opposing faction areas react when you enter them.

Choosing a faction is no longer something decided automatically by your race.

It is now part of your character's story.

Existing Characters Aren't Left Behind

Characters created before this update will have tools available to bring them cleanly into the new system.

Astrael now offers a Reset My Faction Reputations option for characters carrying old or conflicting reputation data.

The Faction Change service has also been updated.

When changing factions, the service will now automatically update your allegiance and clean up reputation with your former faction's capital cities.

That means less cleanup, fewer conflicting faction relationships, and a smoother transition when changing sides.

Race. Class. Allegiance.

From here forward, these are three separate parts of your character.

Your race is who you are.

Your class is how you fight.

Your allegiance is who you fight for.

Azeroth has always asked players to pick a side.

On Aethro: Reforged, that choice is finally yours.
