Play Aethro Launcher 2.5.0 — Mac Has Entered Azeroth

Play Aethro Launcher 2.5.0 brings our biggest macOS update yet:

Apple Silicon Mac users can now get Aethro: Reforged set up and running in minutes, directly through the Play Aethro Launcher.

No hunting down separate tools. No piecing together a Windows WoW client and hoping for the best. No giant setup guide with seventeen steps and a prayer to the Murloc gods.

Download Play Aethro. Set up Reforged. Play.

Until now, our Mac population has basically consisted of one person.

We’re accepting applications for person number two. 😂

Play Aethro now handles the Mac side of Reforged directly through the launcher.

Choose Reforged, let the launcher get everything set up, and you can be wandering around Azeroth making questionable decisions within minutes.

Under the hood, our Apple Silicon support works with WoWSilicon, which makes running the 3.3.5a client natively on modern Macs possible. We’ve built that support into the Play Aethro experience so players don’t need to figure out the technical side themselves.

The launcher also handles Reforged updates and can check and repair the client when necessary.

The current Apple Silicon launcher is unsigned, so macOS may ask you to approve it the first time you open it.

After that?

Azeroth awaits.

Version 2.5.0 isn’t only for our newly recruited Mac army.

The launcher home and game pages have received a new cinematic dark-and-gold design, with cleaner navigation and considerably more room for useful information.

Reforged’s page has also been reorganized with a shorter banner and scrollable content.

Pretty and functional. We’re evolving.

Your launcher home can now show your characters and realm status, putting more useful information in front of you before you even enter the game.

We’ve also added a news tracker for launcher and game updates, maintenance announcements, and other important happenings around Aethro.

The launcher now has its own soundtrack.

Azeroth March can play while you’re browsing Play Aethro, with playback and volume controls available in the top-right corner.

Want silence? Turn it off.

Want dramatic fantasy music while staring at the Play button?

We don’t judge.

Launcher settings and game settings are now separated.

Startup behavior, music, and other launcher preferences live where they belong, while each game’s settings are focused on that game’s client and runtime.

Less clutter. Fewer mystery buttons.

Reforged’s update and repair system has also been improved.

Play Aethro can check the client against the current Reforged release, download updates, and repair launcher-managed files when something goes sideways.

Because “delete the entire game and start over” isn’t a repair system.

Staff members now have permission-based tools available directly inside supported game pages, including Reforged player lookup and selected moderation controls.

For everyone else, those controls stay out of the way.

This release gives Play Aethro a new look, better information, smarter Reforged management, and a much better foundation for what’s coming next.

But the star of 2.5.0 is definitely the Mac.
